Kapil Sharma is a Punjabi and funky guy. He was born to an Amritsar-based Punjabi family on 2 April 1981.Kapil Sharma is an Indian stand-up comedian and actor, born in a Punjabi Brahmin family in Amritsar, Punjab. His father was in the police force and mother was a housewife. His father was diagnosed with cancer in 1997 and died in 2004 at AIIMS in Delhi. He studied at Shri Ram Ashram Senior Secondary School, Amristar and Hindu College in Amritsar. He is featured in the list of prominent alumni of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar. Sharma has a brother named Ashok Kumar Sharma, who is a Police constable and a sister named Pooja Pawan Devgan.

He started his career from Punjabi channel mh1 'hasde hasounde raho' but was second runner up. Then he participated in a comedy reality show'Ustaadon Ka Ustaad', where the contestants of Comedy Circus performed against contestants from Great Indian Laughter Challenge. He won 'Comedy Circus Ke Taansen' and has worked on comedy show Comedy Circus Ka Naya Daur with his partner Shweta Tiwari and won it.

In February 2013, Kapil Sharma was selected among top 100 celebrities in Forbes India magazines and he was ranked 96th in that list. His show "Comedy Nights with Kapil" became the biggest milestone of his career. In December 2013, Kapil Sharma was ranked 93rd in Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list. After a successful run of three years, Sharma decided to wind up the show after differences with the channel Colors. Later, he signed a contract with Sony TV for a new show called The Kapil Sharma Show. The Kapil Sharma Show started airing on 23 April 2016. Sharma made his Bollywood debut as the male lead in the movie Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, a romantic-comedy directed by Abbas Mustan opposite four actresses, Elli Avram, Manjari Phadnis, Simran Kaur Mundi and Sai Lokur. Sharma was nominated for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was invited to the Rashtrapati Bhavan by President Pranab Mukherjee in September 2015 to acknowledge his contribution for the same. Kapil Sharma faced a major setback after he was involved in an in-famous brawl with long-time friend and co-star Sunil Grover. Kapil and Sunil had a fallout earlier in March 2017, after the two comedians had a public fight on board a flight , following which the latter quit the show. Sunil quit Kapil’s show after an inebriated Kapil allegedly assaulted and abused him while they were on a flight.

Sharma married Ginni Chatrath in Jalandhar on 12 December 2018. They had a daughter on 10 December 2019 .He is from a Middle-class family. He was fond of acting and wanted to become an actor and comedian.
